This combination of X-wing and TIE fighter controls is not a very popular Ugly, as are all Uglies based on the TIE control systems. While many would argue that the TIE fighter has a superior control system, very few pilots feel wholly comfortable riding in the cockpit of an Imperial fighter. The big advantage of this fighter is of course the additional guns, but at the cost of the shield system which is removed to accommodate the power conversion equipment needed to make this a working Ugly.
